  • You must use security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the client information. Information must be protected against:
    • Loss or theft
    • Unauthorized access
    • Unauthorized use
    • Modification
  • The methods of protection should include:
    • Physical Measures
      • e.g. locked filing cabinets and restricted access to offices
    • Organizational Measures
      • e.g. policies and procedures, security clearance, access on a “need-to-know” basis
    • Technological Measures
      • e.g. use of passwords, encryption
  • You should develop policies and safeguards to address the use of personal information by employees who conduct their work offsite.
