Advisor business review


  • Under your contract with Manulife, you have agreed to provide Manulife access to all licenses, accounts, ledgers, records and other documents related to the business conducted on behalf of Manulife. Your contract requires you to make the documentation available for inspection and copying by a Manulife representative, during normal business hours.
  • Where client files contain business that has not been conducted on behalf of Manulife we will provide you with a confidentiality agreement to ensure that the privacy of information in the client file is protected.
  • Federal privacy legislation provides for the collection, use and disclosure of information without client consent and knowledge if: 
    • The collection is clearly in the interests of the client and consent cannot be obtained in a timely way.
    • It is reasonable to expect that the collection with the knowledge or consent of the individual would compromise the availability or 
    • the accuracy of the information and the collection is reasonable for purposes related to investigating a breach of an agreement or contravention of the laws of Canada or a province.
  • There are additional provisions, which allow disclosure to third party service providers without the client’s consent where safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of client’s personal information (i.e. our confidentiality agreement).
  • You must notify Manulife immediately in writing if you do not intend to rely on the confidentially undertaking described above. Manulife will not discuss alternative arrangements at the time of a business review.
